I've often wondered why there's an argument. Even if you don't agree that we've damaged the environment to the point that we're really going to ruin the world (which I'm not entirely convinced about), it's hard to argue that pollution is anything but smelly and gross, and therefore hard to argue that we shouldn't try to reduce it in any way possible.

Also, the decline of Detroit has freed up a great deal of space there for garbage dumping... :)

If anyone can do this you can! I am interested in some of those classes that you mentioned.....I need all the help I can to get myself in the healthy range. I know I need to eat better, but staying up late with the hubby makes my late night snacking horrible.

I can't wait to hear about how you are doing!

Good luck! This is my greatest struggle in life. I've managed to alter my beverage intake, my outlook on my personal life, my attitude toward my workself and a ton of other things that I needed to do to alter my mental health over the years. The only time I've been able to lose weight over the past 10 years has been when I was depressed after my marriage fell apart. I wish I knew where to find my motivation to actually eat better and work out..

So.. back on point.. good luck. I am willing to bet i'll see updates on this via twitter/fb, but do you plan on keeping track of your progress here on your blog? Maybe make a page just for posts keeping track of your ups/downs.

Umm.. Excuse me. It's Lara Croft, not "Laura". ;)

I assume at 19 you haven't met men yet. (maybe you still haven't met many..) Not be an expert in everything? It's what we do best! We are essentially the tiggers of the human world. If we don't know something, we confidently BS our way through and have an unwritten man-law that prevents one man from correcting another in front of women-folk. It's just not right.

"recreational smoking"? I suppose if life threatening things like skydiving, deep sea diving and bullfighting can be recreation, so can sucking a cancer stick. :)

There is no argument. The sophisticated 21st century woman can pay when we go out to dinner. Why make me worry about whether I have to pay.. or if we go dutch.. or if it's my turn to pay since we're alternating. Screw that. she can pay.

No smothering/Not Controlling/is okay with me going out without him.. I see a pattern. Not a clingy, whiny wimp works too. Wife wants to go to a movie with friends? God speed. Shopping the day after Thanksgiving? By all means, I'll stay in bed and sleep. Going to do something I'm physically not going to enjoy? I'm happy to stay home and kill Terrorist SOBs by myself.

doesn't make fun of you? Does this one still hold water? good natured ribbing is OK?

So.. adventurous, taller than you, understands family, etc are deal breakers? But.. Cheating is possibly OK? Your 19 year old self was weird. :)

Beyond the wild sweeping generalizations contained here... there's a bunch of good. Expectations and communication (there's that word again) are critical to any healthy relationship. I spend quite a bit of time trying to convince the wife that she's trying to do too much. She can't be everwhere at once, as much as she'd like to.

I've had lots of unrealistic expectations in relationships before and came into my current relationship with a mandate to change.
