Even if you don't agree that we've damaged the environment to the point that we're really going to ruin the world (which I'm not entirely convinced about), it's hard to argue that pollution is anything but smelly and gross, and therefore hard to argue that we shouldn't try to reduce it in any way possible. Also, the decline of Detroit has freed up a great deal of space there for garbage dumping... :) I’ve often wondered why there’s an argument.
